Small Club Going For Big Change

ENSS Interact Club at No Frills, Brighton On October 19 th 2016 and October 23 rd 2016 in the small town of Brighton had a fundraiser was held by the East Northumberland Secondary School Interact Club for the End Polio Now campaign. Through the two days of donations the Interact Club raised $300.40 for the campaign. This total will then be tripled through the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and then again by the government of Canada. Polio is a disease that paralyses the body and mostly effects children under the age of five. Polio does have a vaccine, yet it is not always the easiest way to send around the world as people need to be trained to give the vaccine, and the vaccines need to be paid for. After the child receives their vaccine they will then receive a purple pinky so they do not become vaccinated again. As some may have heard part of End Polio Now slogan, “Purple pinkies for Polio.” ENSS Interact Club at ENSS Though Polio is nearly eradicated in the ...

Where Is The Justice? Have You Been Bullied or Told To Kill Yourself?

It's the end of the year. It's hot and the stress is heavy, I get that.  Wednesday of last week so June 15 2016 I was told that someone wished I was dead.  By someone I had dated a couple months earlier.  I go to a secondary school in Bayside, and the guy that personally told me that he wanted me dead was a teacher's son.   The teacher's son and I have common friends like most grade 10's do, and a guy on my bus asked me what had happened telling me that the teacher's son was sounding proud and confident that he had basically told me to kill myself.  That night I had went home with the voice of the teacher's son telling me I should kill myself.  I cried and screamed and almost went through with his wishes.  Laying in the bathtub sobbing.  Trying to hold my head under long enough, but I stopped out of the will of the thought, "why can't someone stop him and change things."  The next day I stayed home from school not ready to see his face. ...

~Chocolate~ The first time I noticed When I met you was your eyes. Chocolate brown. A dark warm, silk smooth chocolate Your kiss was nervous It was a little panicked. Rare but special. A peasant's first bite of it. A chocolate kiss. When chocolate eyes Look into hidden souls, They find the hiding place. Letting the afraid soul crumble and fall. Fall for sweet smiles, Sugary kisses. A sweet, sweet, caffeine, delicious addiction. Letting happiness leak in through empty cracks. For the one I love, With Chocolate eyes, Sweet, delicate kisses. Things I have a hard time saying. I love you. I love your chocolate eyes. Sweet, innocent virtue. Your sugary sweet personality. I just love you.

My Monster and His New Love

This man, I once loved. He is a stranger to me now. Far away from his home Getting high to forget First kisses filled with hope and lust He lays next to a foreign beauty. Her smile sweet like candy. Permanent like a tattoo. I'm his cloud of smoke. Intoxicating you,  then in the air. Like nothing happened. Distant and forgotten. Remembering our songs, Skype calls, Soccer games, Family gatherings and Netflix nights. They wash away like a hurricane. I have permanent scars From your love, You still have a wicked smile. A new soul from her, while I pretend everything is fine. My Monster... and His New Love.

Sick

Sick She makes me sick. The thought of her against him It makes me sick Her kissing him Her holding him Her undressing him Her sitting on him Her sleeping with him Her holding his hand I'm so sick of them I'm sick. So sick. Of them. Of what happened between them.                                                                                         ~Tyanna Chittenden
