Pretties and Specials by Scott Westerfeld

A.N.  I'm doing two books in one because it is part of the trilogy.  I am not writing any character reviews for any of these books, because I'm super lazy and I wrote one for the first book.  I'm also so, so sorry that I haven't been very active lately my laptop is acting out.  Hopefully soon enough my new laptop will come.  I keep being promised it, but like the rest of the world my dad can't keep his promises...

Pretties by Scott Westerfeld

Tally Youngblood is now pretty.  But she has very few memories of anything that happened prier to her surgery, to give her perfection.  She has everything you could ever want the perfect, hot boyfriend, she's pretty. Plus she is able to access the newest trends whenever.  One thing her and the rest of her possy, the Crims, want is freedom.  Something no one has, the freedom to think for themselves.  Special Circumstances has things hidden from everyone in Tally's village. When you recieve the surgery you can't remember your past.  When Zane, Tally's new super hot boyfriend (makes me think of Zayn Malik and I'm not kidding), and Tally are given a cure from David's friend hell breaks out.  Zane and Tally split the cure causing the cure to not work as it's supposed to.  Tally starts curing herself without realizing it  and Zane has a little bit of help from the pills, but the other Crims are becoming jealous of Zane and Tally.  Watch Hell break lose and barely sew itself back together in Scott Westfeld's 2nd book in the Ugly series.

Specials by Scott Westerfeld

Tally Youngblood has been taken from her pretty face, and turned into Special Circumstance.  She isn't any ordinary Special Circumstance though, she's a Cutter.  The Cutters are better then most of the people in the Special Circumstance.  The cure has spread, and it's Shay and Tally's job to stop it.  Smoke, may have been burned but it's still living up to everything it used to be.  They're main plain help Zane escape, and follow him to the New Smoke. Follow Tally in her final adventure through heartbreak, and a world full of fast thinking in the last book of Scott Westerfeld's Ugly series.

In the second book we are introduced to the Cutters.  The Cutters weren't a huge thing in the second book because it was just Shay and a few other people who wanted a "bubbly" feeling.  In the "Specials" it's more important, because they made a group for it that has high powers.  In my opinion cutting isn't the way to solve anything.  I don't think the way to make yourself think clearer should be hurting yourself, or to even give yourself a high.  Self harming is very "normal" these days, and many, many kids do it.  I don't think it was a smart idea to bring self harm into the book, because the way Mr. Westerfeld it made it seem like it made you stronger.  Yes, as humans we get scars and they make us strong.  If we are the ones leaving them on our own skin there is a problem, I'm not saying it makes you weak, because it doesn't.  Hurting yourself doesn't get you anywhere, and I'm sorry to say it, but it doesn't.  If you are hurting yourself in anyway, please know that you aren't alone, and that it will get better. I'm always here, and those scars just show how far you've come.

The book was so much more thrilling then the other two in my honest opinion.  This book showed more depth, and more emotion in my opinion.  The other two she was just torn between guys, and how to please her friend, Shay.  In this book she feels the total emptiness of losing someone really special.  There's more pain, and love, and this book was just better.  In this book we witness things that are more relatable then the first two books.  There was a lot more action and more realization in this book.  Slowly, Tally sees who she can be, and she sees what she's capable of.
