Eleanor and Park is a story that makes you think of your first love.  Written in both point of views, you remember falling in love slowly with your first love.  Eleanor is a redhead with a dangerous step dad and a caring mom.  Park is a generous, curious, controlled teenager.  A story about a simple encounter on the bus that turns into two people who can't get enough of each other.

This book was detailed and just un-describable.  Rainbow Rowell (I love her first name so much), did a phenomenal job writing this novel.  While reading the book, I was dating my first love and I noticed the similarities.  Difference I see myself more as Park than Eleanor.  Maybe it's because of how things ended in the book and in my story.  Park was kept to himself, and very caring about Eleanor.  Eleanor was kept to herself because of her at home life.  At home she was kicked out once, she's been hit, and her step father basically hates her.  Park is so defensive when it comes to Eleanor.  He walked to her house in the cold so they could read a comic book.  Park of course didn't about everything that happened in Eleanor's home.  When kids at school pick on her he stands up to them.  Afterwards he comforts her, he holds her and just does everything a good boyfriend should.

I spent most of the book drooling over Park.  Park is all around perfect.  He's short, Korean, with bright green eyes, and just the sweetest.   See I have this weird thing for Asian guys, or guys with green eyes.  It's really super weird, I know.  I was basically complaining to all of my friends  about how badly I wanted him to come out of the book to like just hold me while reading the book.  I mean, like, you know when you start fan girling over something, I was basically doing that the entire time I was reading the book.
Park's dad was a military man.  He wanted Park to be tough, strong and masculine.  When Park does something feminine, he gets grounded.  Park was that one kid who was very musically talented, and very smart.   I assume that Park's brother isn't a lot like the super cute older brother.

Eleanor was, like, the coolest.  She was a bigger build, extra curvy.  Long red hair, that was curly like Merida from Disney's Brave.  Eleanor's style was different, it was very creative, very outside of the typical style.  Even though this book was written with idea of an 80's time.  Eleanor is still very creative.  She wears buttons in her hair, ribbons on her wrists, and clothes that are too big.  For the obvious reason being that her step dad doesn't think it's a good idea to spend money on Eleanor.  He doesn't see anything in her, like she's nothing, worthless.  While reading, you wish you could reach in and just slap the step dad across the face.  I actually cared because of how bad I felt for Eleanor.  She really didn't deserve her step dad verbally and physically abusing her.

They act tough, and they are.  They know they're in love, he'll admit it but, she wouldn't risk it. Maybe she's afraid of becoming attached, or losing a loved one, maybe she was just in denial.

Comment: "I could read this book over and over again, and I'd still be in love."

Favourite Character: Park

Amount of Pages: 336

Favourite Quote: (Just so you know it's like a paragraph.)                                                                              "She ran past the few houses to get to him. 'Good morning,' she said, shoving him with both hands.
He laughed and stepped back. 'Who are you?'
'I'm your girlfriend,' she said. 'Ask anybody.'
'No... my girlfriend is sad and quiet and keeps me up all night worrying about her.'
'Bummer.  Sounds like you need a different girlfriend.'
He smiled and shook his head.
It was cold and half dark, and Eleanor could see Park's breath.  She resisted the urge to try to swallow it."  pg. 158 Chapter 27
