Should schools still be reading To Kill A Mocking Bird?
This subject is debatable. (This is my personal opinion. Please leave your opinions in the comments below.)
Pros
This subject is debatable. (This is my personal opinion. Please leave your opinions in the comments below.)
Pros
- Touches upon important subjects such as: racism, prejudice, justice and judgement, being young, family, the difference between right and wrong, fear, etc.
- It is easy to understand, because of the point of view.
- The reader learns about racism and it is almost first hand.
Honestly that is all I can think of...
Cons
- The story at time is difficult to understand with all of the southern slang. As well as being in Scout's point of view not everything exactly makes sense, because it is only her understanding of everything.
- Personally I found it hard to stay interested. It was very dragged out with unnecessary stories that just confused me.
- The use of the N word. Sometime I read to my mom and the second I said what was written she told me a) never use that word, b) the schools should not be allowing influential kids to read this considering the terms. I hate to say it but agree. It's bad enough that everybody uses racial slurs and no one seems to care.
- There is not enough emotion in the story for me to really have a feeling to care, or fully perceive the event that occurred.
PERSONALLY I HATED TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Instead of reviewing it I did a pro and con list because I do not want to explain what happened.

Comment: Great themes. Could have had a better plot, and there was no need to drag out a boring plot.
Keeping it short and stingy, unlike me.
